I happened to see a late nite infomercial about a product called Nopalea....a prickly pear (nopal) cactusjuice that is supposed to be a pretty much cure-all for alot of ailments. Of course everybody knows that the supplementindustry is pretty much unregulated and being the skeptic that I am I do a bit of research before I buy anything,especially things that are expensive. The price of this book was more than worth it!!! It seems there have been quite a fewstudies done on juice from nopal (prickly pear) cactus. Before you buy the product, especially the one with the infomercial,read this book! The researchh appears to be true...but be advised there is a better product on the market than theone on the infomercial....you can find it here on the web. The product with no infomercial is NOT diluted with waterand must be diluted before you use it...therefore you are NOT paying for mostly water.
I have eaten Nopal or prickly Pear Cactus fruit and it is good and so good for us. I want to grow more. I have a plant and it only produced 2 fruit this year, the first year that we have noticed. I order juice that is quite expensive in order to get the juice or fruit as it helps arthritis. It helps other things as well and is a tasty and healthy food. I want more cactus and will try to propogate some this summer. The books is very helpful in telling more of the fruit.
I got this because I live in the desolate area of my state and this is medicinal and has plants I can eat in it. This will come in handy if I can't make it to town someday. I can eat off the land. I live 50 miles from a little town. I live 86 miles from a town with a Walmart or HEB. Amazon had what I wanted.
Who knew the Prickly Pear Cactus was so versatile and interesting. I devoured this book and am happy it is now in my eBook library. An excellent reference book about everything you would ever want to know about the Prickly Pear Cactus.
