As a fellow homesick Texan and follower of Lisa's blog I have read and re-read and cooked many wonderful dishes from Lisa. This cookbook is a fabulous addition!I love the details and lengths that Lisa goes into. There's information about types of chiles, rehydrating dried chiles, all sorts of cheese and how well they can be used in her recipes etc. The recipes and photos are top notch. So far we have tried three and they are each unique and flavorful. I'm really looking forward to trying the green chile and cream cheese ice cream next! These recipes are versatile and Lisa includes things like chicken fried steak, tacos, enchiladas, and burgers to go with your queso. Queso lovers unite because this cookbook is made just for you!!

I purchased this book as a thinly veiled gift for my wife, but really for myself. She loves the book and says the recipes look great. The first bowl of queso was outstanding...and I'm looking forward to more. She's a picky chef, so her positive endorsement earns this book 5 stars.

Saw a review of the book in a local magazine, so immediately ordered. My hubby is also a Houston native, and we both grew up on queso. We judge every new Tex Mex restaurant, and old ones that change their recipe, by their queso.Since I just got it today, I have not yet tried any, but many certainly look good.I loved the history and the amount of work she put into this. The blurbs accompanying each recipe were great. I can't wait to try these! The analysis of what works and what doesn't and why is wonderful.

There are so many good recipes in this book. I like how the author talks about the differences between the recipes and the regions. She even mentions how a few of the early ones aren't her favorite versions, but included them anyway for novelty and historical purposes. This is a great addition to any queso/tex-mex food lover's cookbook library, and it would make a great gift in a food basket with a bag of tortilla chips, some dried chiles, and a pretty bowl to serve it in!

Another masterpiece from Lisa Fain. The recipes are achievable for the home cook, and the accompanying narrative gives context to each recipe that really does capture the imagination. This book is a departure for the Homesick Texan in that her stories are less homespun family-centric and based on her travels (through the queso countryside and through aisles and aisle of Texas libraries - wow - who knew there was so much to learn about Queso?). Don't stop authoring cookbooks, Lisa!

As a native San Antonian and cheese lover, transplanted to the Midwest, I couldn't wait for this book! I'm reading it like a novel in bed this Sunday morning because there's so much information. Can't wait to try MOST (not so sure about the vegan quesos) of these recipes! Also, I love that Lisa just embraces the fact that a lot of quesos are made with velveeta or American cheese. It is what it is. Ole! Queso! Yumm!

I have used several of Lisa's recipes from her blog. My favorite has been Baked Jalapeno Pimento Cheese Dip; I'm asked to bring it to most potluck functions I attend. So when I found out she had an entire book about queso, I preordered it. And I have not been disappointed. I love how she has researched the history and gives descriptions of ingredients so that I can make the best dip ever.

I prefer ordered this because I have a mild obsession with queso, as many people do, it is so very delicious how could you not!!! Anyway, they even have tortilla chips recipes and ice cream and guac, salsaa.... Traditional queso, vegan queso, fancy queso, white queso, breakfast queso, etc,. And the pictures are fantastic!!! High quality
